The Canadian Society for Spirituality and Social Work (CSSSW) seeks to bring together practitioners, scholars, students, and interested others to develop and strengthen the profession's ability to attend to spirituality. The CSSSW offers an opportunity to network and collaborate with individuals who are incorporating spirituality in their study and practice of social work. In collaboration with the Society for Spirituality and Social Work, annual conferences are held alternately in Canada and the US. I was a presenter at the 4th annual conference in Los Angeles in June 2009. For more information about the 2010 conference held in Calgary, check out their website. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - For more information on some of the techniques I use:In addition to my sons, the following individuals have played a key role as teachers in my continued journey into wholeness. Despite the fact that First Nations children are no more likely to experience abuse than non-Aboriginal children, in 2005 10.23% of Status Indian children were in the care of the child welfare system compared with 0.67% of non-Aboriginal children (this represents a rate of 6-8 times more than at the height of the residential school system). The Assembly of First Nations, the First Nations Child and Family Caring Society of Canada, the Canadian Human Rights Commission, Amnesty International, and the Chiefs of Ontario are calling upon Canadians to witness the hearing firsthand as the federal government is attempting to block the media from broadcasting the hearing.
